A friend in need...

This is a dedication to all my friends – seen and unseen, old and new, close and ..er…not-so-close...
(Yes I am aware it will sound more like a thank-you speech post after winning the Oscars…. But hey, bear with me guys n gals! )


Ajit: Everyone has a story to tell…
Me: So true… that’s why everyone is unique

Part of a normal chat conversation on gtalk. But it serves as the perfect beginning to this post. And it is so true.

When you spend majority of your life hopping between two homes and adjusting between more than person/family, friends become the silent anchors in your life, understanding you better than your family ever would. No wonder it is said: “friends are the family we choose for ourselves.” Truly so :-)

You won’t believe this… I have been planning this post for 4 months now!! I guess that in itself shows how important my friends are to me. And I am glad to say this list has gotten only longer over time! As I mentioned in my last tag post… friends are my surrogate family...




My friends mean the world to me and I wouldn’t be what I am without them. I am not an expressive person by nature… all my concern/love/care is shown through my actions than words. But once I begin to express, the floodgates just open (read: run for your lives!)
But anyway, I thought: let me let my friends know… atleast to a little extent … what they mean to me…
Not that their relationship to me can be comprised in a few sentences. But this is just my attempt to..er… ok don’t let me destroy it by describing further! :P OK enough intro already. Here goes:

Note: The list does not in any way represent particular priority or depth of friendship. It just shows the order in which I met (or got to know better) these people in my life.

So here’s my friendship’s day post.
Dedicated to:

Praseeda – for proving that childhood friendships can last much much longer than what we presume
Jayalekshmi – for being my best friend for a lifetime
Shia – for being my joking buddy initially and later going on to discover we have far more in common than our giggling sessions
Nasha – for being a close friend in spite of our vastly different natures, and yet sharing the same zodiac sign at two ends!
Unni – for proving that friendship can exist across the distance of thousands of miles and time-frame of several years without ever meeting in person
Sunil – for coming into my life for a reason and being there for me during my difficult times with a lot of tolerance
Anish – for teaching me that friendships can make or break solely according to one’s equation with the other person (and not necessarily time or distance)
Manu – for being my brother cum best friend cum partner-in-crime cum God knows what else! And for teaching me that love can exist in spite of you trying my patience umpteen number of times! :D
Jolene – for spilling over with enthusiasm for my writing irrespective of how much crap it may contain lol. Always love reading your comments!
Namrata – for proving that two sarcastic tongues are better than one, and that marriage doesn’t necessarily have to change friendship one bit :-D
Neha - for just being there and being you…!
Pushpesh, Kanika and Anu Kurien – for making me realise that age difference is just a number when it comes to true friendships
Hina-Saba – for showing that sometimes friends of friends can turn into my own close friends too
Sahir – for being my colleague cum junior cum senior in business. Now don’t ask me how – long story!
Pavitra – for proving that, as you once said yourself, friendships sometimes happen without rhyme or reason
Nidhi – for easily juggling the roles of my best friend and cousin with amazing alacrity … stay the same, sweetheart…always! I seriously need to learn the art of resilience from you
C N Aravind – Where do I begin?
For reassuring my faith in good men…
For making me understand that complete opposites can strike up a fast friendship and actually make it last…
For proving that sometimes when you want to finally collapse, God sends someone to make sure you don’t! :-)
If I have been or can be there for you atleast even half as much as you have been there for me, I will consider myself blessed. The word ‘thank you’ isn’t enough…honestly.

(Drum-roll) Blog samaj beings :D (the below pic is apt, ain't it?)

Vimal – for making me realise that reflections do exist in life (much to my delight and surprise… which means I am not the only one abnormal!! :D) … and for sharing the same ammavan! LOL
And much more importantly, for being the reason my blog exists… although you probably don’t even know it yet! And the best part is, you were just being your usual mad self :-) (Yes, yes, you ARE the devil who made me start blogging… now go beat your head on a wall !! :D ) hehehe!!

Ajit/OG – for helping me recognize the fact that the world is a small place after all – guess which “celebrity” we both know! LOL ;-)
It was a surprise – albeit a pleasant one – to run into someone who is far more similar to me than I thought he would be! I hope you find Ms Z soon :P Until then (and also after that), keep that sense of humour rocking as always, dude! :-D And remember, you are not just OG but always EOG! :-)

Qi – for being my partner in …not crime but 55-ers ;-) You know what I mean!

Dhiren – for supplying me minute by minute updates on which blog the action (stupid funny comments and dancing) are taking place! LOL and for introducing me to gravatar!! :P you keep reminding me to be in touch with my mother tongue… thanks to all the translations that you require from time to time!! :D

Indyeah – for actually agreeing to adopt me :D Are you sure you need a lunatic around the house (and blog)? I’ll give you time to rethink! LOL. Jokes apart, for actually being the first to inform me of blogadda.com selecting my post for their Saturday-Spicy-Picks! Yay! :D
