When the Cunny-Kanni sistahs met!

I’d like to begin this post by thanking all of you (you know who you are) who responded with a word of comfort, through chat, emails, sms-es and calls in response to my last post. Life’s always about both the good and the bad. The post was perhaps to an extent about the bad, but your responses reminded me about the good :-) Thanks a ton!

This post is about me (Kanni) meeting up with Cunny sistah. Those in Blog Samaj will know instantly what this is all about. For the uninitiated, this is about my meeting with one of my darling blog buddies Crafty – blog sister is more like it :D

This is part 1 of a two-series post.

To set the context: I had once before been to the commercial capital of the country but while I had been relatively free that time, Crafty had been neck-deep in work [as usual]. Hence the meeting never took place.

This time round, the feisty little one was determined not to miss out and watched like a hawk out for my return to the city, pounced on me the day after I reached back! :D OK I am getting ahead of myself.

On a fine Monday morning while I was in office, I received her sms announcing from ten miles away that she would be free that evening. Fortunately for me I was free that day and we finally planned to meet. Adding to the excitement was Dhiren who kept popping up like a jack-in-the-box in gmail every 5 mins with provocative statements like: She better not give you dhoka, tell her I told you so! :D

Finally towards evening, as my work got delayed, our plan to meet by 7pm got shifted to 8pm. Crafty sms-ed me asking me to let her know what time I leave office. For some reason although I did receive the sms, it completely skipped my mind. Worried that I was getting late, I left in a hurry. On the way I got Vimmuuu's call and by the time it ended I received an ambigious sms which said: “I’m here now. Will be here till you leave.” The last part confused me. Somehow I felt that she had reached the venue and she was waiting for me … but till I leave? I anyway replied saying: “I m on my way, almost reached.”

The panicked sms I received in response got me giggling. “OMG U LEFT? Complete kalippu! I thot you would sms me before that. Now I am coming, hang on!” (not exact wording, but something to that effect!). I reached a good 15-20 mins ahead of her at the venue and waited patiently, by which time I took a short walk around the marketplace and took a look at all the shops. Fortunately since her office wasn’t that far, she reached soon after. The closest landmark was a KFC and we promised to meet in front of that.

I was crossing the road when a Crafty- like looking female passed in front of me. I paused, trying to identify whether or not this was the person. I wasn’t completley sure. Then I decided to walk behind her quietly. :D (I enjoyed this bit!) By the time she started to cross the road to reach KFC I was sure this was her. I got slowed down by a few steps, by which time she already reached the entrance, picked her mobile and started calling. My phone started ringing. By then I was sure sure! :D I did not pick the phone, walked straight across to her and tapped her on the shoulder. She whirled around. We stared at each with identically idiotic grins.

And both of started talking at once. I explained to her how I had seen her from a little before, but followed her quietly all the same. Her response to that was a good dose of abundant laughter… and I must admit, she’s got the most infectious laughter on the planet :-)

“So where do we sit?” she finally asked.

“How about the CCD down the block?” I suggested.

She stared at me. “There’s a CCD here? Are you sure?”

I nodded. “Yup I just saw it.”

She stared some more with a funny expression on her face. “Er…ok. You come all the way from Delhi and you teach ME that there’s a CCD here? Um…!”

I burst out laughing!

Finally we walked into a nearby Barista. Our diet consisted of two rich chocolate shakes, one cheesy veg sandwich and one chocolate cheesecake. Calorie heaven. “There goes my diet,” she sighed. I blinked at her: “You actually follow a diet?” LOL

The funniest part came to where she tried to be the good host. I was perfectly happy with sharing the amount, or better yet, treating her. But she wouldn’t hear of it. She snatched her purse and ran to the counter before I could search for my own purse. “I don’t want to see your wallet!” she declared. Yep. Famous last words.

The amount came to Rs. 426/-. And Ms Good Host did not have the entire amount with her in cash. The guy at the counter looked at her politely and announced: “We don’t accept cards.” Crafty stared at the guy in shock: “What?! Oh no!”

“I’ll pay,” I quickly suggested. “No! NO! I HAVE the money!” she started looking frantically through her purse for more change. By then I had started laughing.

Crafty (wailing in despair): “Why don’t you accept cards?!”

Guy at the counter: “Er…!”

Me: ROFL!

I finally paid the remaining amount and we settled down to eat.

We talked about everything under the Sun… including Vimal’s upcoming marriage, about how I couldn’t meet Crafty last time round, where I was managing to stay this time round… everything!

And of course, so much of blog samaj and all you guys!!! :-)

Time flew. And then… my phone started ringing. We both looked down and saw the name of the caller…
