The Unexpected Visitor

Yes I TOLD you I am back in business :P I am actually posting in less than a week!
IHM's animal tails...er...tales seem to have inspired me! :D

I was working from home last week one day. And she came to my doorstep in search of food. Have 2 like her back home, so did not have the heart to send her away. Gave her some food which she polished off in 2 minutes.

Then, having gained confidence she ventured inside looking for interesting nooks and crannies.

I gently dissuaded her and tried to show her the way outside. She plopped herself down in resignation in my front hall, trying to make herself comfortable.

She lay there for sometime and eventually I had to send her out.

Little joys of working from home! :-)

Err what should I say? am lost for words not because of your post but the fact that am dead scared of anything in four legs (crawling babies are an exception). If a cat even tried to cross a road in front of me I can run at 50 miles per hr in the opposite direction :(

My son says that he wants to grow up only so that he can buy a house and have pets. I have taken the hint graciously that he doesn't plan to have his old mommy with him and his blonde wife...sobs!

Maybe somebody else in the neighbourhood used to feed her and has left so now she does not know who to turn to, and you must have seemed harmless. Do give her little somethings to eat.

We have lived in many houses and found many such cats wandering inside our homes, they are trusting fools and sometimes enter homes of those who do not like them and sometimes people let their dogs chase them :(

Allytude (another blogger) adopted her cat Licorice after one such visit - but it's not a good idea to make them dependent on us, unless we can keep them permanently.
Sandhya's cat also brought another friends who stayed back :)

@Swar

Ashwathy said...

@IHM
actually quite likely... she seemed very friendly so chances are high that she's been treated well otherwise..
OMG! :-( I cant ppl do such brutal things...!

I would love to adopt a pet, but yes as u said, if I dont have the time or resources to look after it then there's no point.Hence restraining myself.

we dont buy fish much here. LOL, my 2 cats at home cant stand fish OR milk...believe it or not! They are chicken lovers! :D I guess it takes all kinds to make up this world!

@evanescentthoughts
if u bring up even a kitten, that fear will go :-)

haha u do? u're one of the rare breeds who actually LIKES cats.. most ppl dont! :D

Destination Infinity said...

I think cats are better pets - they are not always behind you! Strangely, when I find a cat like that inside my house, they run off before I find something for them to eat!

Ashwathy said...

@DI
LOL! r u sure they dont perceive u as the mad scientist who tries bad experiments on them??? :D :D

Varsha said...

you work from home!! I envy you!!

Cute cat....

Ashwathy said...

@Varsha
welcome to my blog :-)
haha...the work from home policy applies only to rare days when we cant make it to work... its both a blessing and a curse, coz work follows you everywhere!

Emm said...

Oh so cute!! I lvoe cats and I love how curious they are!! What kind of work do you do??

Ashwathy said...

@Emm
I am into consulting...so work technically follows me at every location :-)

Emm said...

Eek! I quite like the structure of being able ot work in an office and know that when I leave at 5pm, work is over for the day!! I don't envy you!

Ashwathy said...

@Emm
I miss that cat tho... she hasnt come back since that. Well she did once, and at that time I had been in a hurry to go somewhere so I couldnt offer her food. That might not have gone down well with her... :-/

Emm said...

Hahaha! You must certainly be in her bad books now. Bad human! You can meet my lot when you finally make it to England.

Ashwathy said...

@Emm
ok I think I envy you then!! lol..

yea i hope she decides to forgive me and comes back...i miss her :-(

yup will see them when i finally make it alright!!! :D
